Meet Dr. Selph
Dr. Patrick Selph is a native of Franklin, TN, and joined Urology Associates after spending seven years as an Associate Professor in the Department of Urology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During his time at UAB, Dr. Selph was twice voted as the faculty teacher of the year for the department. Furthermore, he served as the young urologist representative for the Southeastern section of the American Urological Association, was the chair of UAB Hospital’s American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer committee, and was the ambulatory Quality Officer for the Departments of Urology, Orthopedics, and Otolaryngology. He was also one of three urologists from the United States selected to represent the American Urological Association in a visiting scholar program with the European Association of Urology, traveling to hospitals throughout Europe in 2017.
Dr. Selph attended the University of Virginia and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. He completed medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, where he graduated with highest honors and won the Robert L. Summitt award, given to the graduating senior who displayed distinction in scholarship, leadership, service, and character during his or her medical studies. He then completed his general surgery internship and urology residency training at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC, and he didn’t have to travel far when he followed his residency with a fellowship in Genitourinary Cancer Survivorship at Duke University. Dr. Selph brings specialization in complex reconstructive urologic surgery to Urology Associates. He specializes in both robotic and open urologic reconstruction, artificial urinary sphincter and penile implant surgery, urethral stricture, and managing complications of all types of pelvic cancers.

Getting to Know Dr. Selph
Dr. Selph is married and has three children. He enjoys exercising and watching anything that has to do with soccer. He enjoys international travel and has lectured on urology in Brazil, Copenhagen, England, the Netherlands, Milan, and Tahiti.
